"Then Joshua turned back at that time, and captured Hazor and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all these kingdoms." - Joshua 11:10 (NASB)

During the summer of 1993 I spent six weeks in the small country of Israel. Five of those six weeks were spent digging in the dirt at Tel Hazor in Northern Galilee. This is my story.

Introduction - a blog 18 years in the making | Tel Hazor 1993

Eighteen years ago I was nearing the end of my sophomore year at Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas.

I was looking forward to the summer because I had applied, and been accepted to an archaeological dig at Tel Hazor in Israel.

During the time that I spent in Israel I took hundreds of photos and kept a journal of sorts. Recently I scanned all the negatives to get them into a digital format. It was with that in mind that I decided I should start this blog, sharing my photos and the contents of my journal.

Most of the text of this blog will be directly from my journal, but it is likely that I will recall things that I had not originally chosen to write down. I will try to stay true to my original manuscript for the most part.

I hope that you will return to Tel Hazor with me.
